Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I use AcroCert instead of the local Council?

Unlike Council staff, our accredited certifiers must undergo a lengthy process to become accredited by the Building Professionals Board. To remain accredited each year, our staff must maintain a high level of competence and undergo regular training to ensure ongoing Continuing Professional Development.

We place a high emphasis on personalising our approval and inspection service. We work with you to achieve the best possible results.

How long does it take for AcroCert to process my application?

Our approval timeframe is between 5 to 10 days – pending the client’s compliance with any Council pre-conditions of Development Consent.

How do I ask for a quote?

You can organise a quote simply by contacting either of our offices by phone, mail or email. Click on the Contact tab on our website for details of our offices. If you’d like a quote, or simply have a question, click on the Contact form.

How do I lodge an application?

Refer to the Documents tab on our website. The link will take you to our application form, which notes the documents that are necessary for lodgement. You can either post your application or call in to either of our offices.

When can I commence construction?

Once the application has been assessed and approved, you will need to provide us with details of the builder and relevant insurances. AcroCert will then send the Notice of Commencement to Council on your behalf. This Notice advises Council that works will commence after 48 hours.

How do I organise inspections during the course of construction?

It is essential that you request an inspection for all mandatory critical stage inspections. These inspections will be noted in your approval paperwork.

Contact our office prior to 4.00 pm on the day before you’d like your inspection. We aim to provide booked inspection times if necessary.
